Dhamm al-MuskirIbn Abi al-Dunya

Ahmad informed us; Abu Bakr narrated to us.

34 – ʿAbdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Surah al-Sulami related to me, from ʿAbdullah ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn Muslim. He said: I heard Ibn Idris say, “Do you imagine that wine was forbidden merely because its taste is repulsive, its odor offensive, or because it fails to nourish? It was prohibited only because of the intoxication it produces. As for nabidh (a fermented fruit drink): it first makes one drunk, then drives him to delirium, then to reckless speech, and finally to outright unbelief.”
