Ahmad informed us,

9 – Abu Bakr narrated to us; al-Haytham ibn Kharijah narrated to us; he said: Ismaʿil ibn ʿAyyash al-Himsi narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi ʿAmr al-Saybani, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Fayruz al-Daylami, from his father, who said:

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “Messenger of Allah, we are people who own grapevines and vineyards. Since wine has been declared unlawful, what should we do?” He replied, “Turn it into raisins.”

They asked, “What then should we do with the raisins?” He said, “Soak them in water in the morning and drink (the infusion) in the evening, and soak them in the evening and drink in the morning.”

They said, “Messenger of Allah, may we not leave it until it becomes strong?” He answered, “Then do not store it in qilaal (large clay jars) or in dubbaʾ (gourds); rather, keep it in shinaan (waterskins). If it stays beyond its time, it will turn into vinegar.”
