90 – ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; he said: It has reached me that Allah revealed to one of His prophets:

“With My very eyes I behold the burdens borne by those who endure for My sake and the hardship they undergo in seeking My good pleasure. Do you imagine that I would ever forget a single deed of theirs? How could I, when I am the Most Merciful toward My creation? Had it been My way to hasten punishment for anyone, I would surely have hastened it for those who despair of My mercy. If only My believing servants could see how I secure their pardon from those whom they have wronged, and then decree for the one who grants that pardon everlasting life in My abiding nearness—never again would they harbor doubts about My bounty and generosity.”
