58 – Hamzah ibn al-ʿAbbās narrated to us; ʿAbdān ibn ʿUthmān informed us; ʿAbdallāh ibn al-Mubārak informed us; Rishdīn ibn Saʿd informed us; Abū Hāniʾ al-Khawlānī narrated to me, from ʿAmr ibn Mālik al-Janbī:
Faḍālah ibn ʿUbayd and ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit related to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“When the Day of Resurrection comes and Allah has completed the reckoning of all creatures, two men will still remain. They will be ordered to the Fire. As they are being driven away, one of them looks back, whereupon the Compeller says, ‘Return him.’ He is brought back and asked, ‘Why did you look back?’ He replies, ‘I was hoping You would admit me to Paradise.’ So he is commanded to enter Paradise.
He will say, ‘Allah has given me so much that, even if I were to feed all the people of Paradise, nothing of what I possess would decrease in the least.’”
The narrator added: Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned this man, joy could be seen upon his blessed face.
