49 – Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn related to us; Ḥajjāj ibn Muḥammad al-Aʿwar related to us; Ibn Luhayʿah narrated from Abū Qabīl, who said: I heard Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muzanī say: Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Jublānī told me that he heard Thawbān, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, declare:
“I would not wish to possess the whole world and everything it contains in exchange for this verse: ‘O My servants who have wronged their own souls, do not despair of Allah’s mercy’ (Az-Zumar 53).”
٤٩ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَعْوَرُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قَبِيلٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُزَنِيَّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُبْلَانِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ثَوْبَانَ، مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «مَا أَحَبَّ أَنَّ لِيَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا بِهَذِهِ الْآيَةِ ﴿يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ» ﴾ [الزمر: ٥٣]
