4 – Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿArafah narrated to us; he said: al-Naḍr ibn Ismāʿīl al-Bajalī narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Laylā, from Abū az-Zubayr, from Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “None of you should die except while holding a good opinion of Allah—glorified and exalted. Indeed, some people were ruined by their ill thoughts about Allah, so He said to them, ‘That was your assumption which you entertained about your Lord; it has destroyed you, and you have become of the losers’ (Fussilat 41:23).”
