19 – Yahya ibn Ayyub narrated to us; Ismaʿil ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us; al-ʿAlaʾ informed me, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“If the believer truly knew what punishment Allah holds, no one would still dare hope for His Paradise; and if the disbeliever truly knew what mercy Allah holds, no one would ever despair of His Paradise.”
١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمُؤْمِنُ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنَ الْعُقُوبَةِ مَا طَمَعَ بِجَنَّتِهِ أَحَدٌ , وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْكَافِرُ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ مَا قَنَطَ مِنْ جَنَّتِهِ أَحَدٌ»
