17 – 46284. Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Baraʾ al-Bajali narrated to me; he said: “I was informed that when ʿUmar ibn Dharr—may Allah have mercy on him—performed the Hajj pilgrimage, the people gathered around him and said, ‘Abu Dharr, offer a supplication.’ He replied, ‘Certainly. O Allah, have mercy on a people who have remained, from the moment You created them, in the same state as the magicians were on the day You showed them mercy.’
