145 – Abu Khaythamah narrated to us; Ishaq ibn Yusuf narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Malik, from ʿAtaʾ, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace:
“Allah possesses one hundred mercies. Only one of them has been sent down among humankind, the jinn, livestock, and crawling creatures; through it they show affection to one another, through it they are merciful, and through it even a wild beast is tender toward its young. He has kept back ninety-nine mercies with which He will show mercy to His servants on the Day of Resurrection.”
