139 – Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Yaʿqūb ibn Kaʿb narrated to us; he said: I heard Yūsuf ibn Asbāṭ—may Allah have mercy on him—say: I heard Sufyān al-Thawrī—may Allah have mercy on him—commenting on the verse, “And do good, for Allah loves the doers of good” (Qur’an 2:195). He said, “Do good by entertaining the best thoughts about Allah.”
