131 – Muhammad narrated to us; Dawud ibn al-Muhabbar informed us; A‘yan the tailor told me; he said: “I heard Malik ibn Dinar say:
‘I saw Abū ʿAbd-Allāh Muslim ibn Yasār in a dream, one year after his death. I offered him salām, but he did not return the greeting. I asked, “Why will you not answer my salām?” He replied, “I am dead; how can I return your greeting?” I then said, “What did you face at the moment of death?” At this, Malik’s eyes filled with tears and he said, “By Allah, I met with horrors and overwhelming convulsions.” I asked, “What happened after that?” He replied, “And what do you think befits the Most Generous? He accepted our good deeds, forgave our misdeeds, and assumed on our behalf the claims against us.”’
Then Malik let out a deep sigh and collapsed unconscious. He remained ill for several days because of that swoon, and he died in that sickness. People said that his heart had split.”
