130 – Muhammad ibn al-Husayn related to me; Abdullah ibn al-Faraj related to me; he said: Fath al-Mawsili declared, “My sins have become so vast and so many that they have almost made me despair of Allah’s mighty pardon. Yet how could I ever despair of You when You were generous to the magicians even after they had marched out as defiant unbelievers? How could I despair of You when You are the Patron of every blessing and every good? How could I despair of You when You are the Helper at moments of distress?” He kept repeating, “How could I despair of You?” until he fell unconscious.
