12 – Abu ʿAbd Allah al-Taymi narrated to me, from Sulayman ibn al-Hakam ibn ʿAwānah, that a man once prayed at ʿArafat, saying: “Do not punish us with the Fire after You have settled Your tawḥīd (belief in Your oneness) in our hearts.” Then he wept and said, “I do not think You will do that, given Your pardon.” He wept again and added, “Yet if You do so on account of our sins, You will inevitably gather us with a people whom we have long opposed for Your sake.”
