117 – Bishr ibn Muʿādh al-ʿAqadī narrated to us; al-Muʿtamar ibn Sulaymān narrated to us; al-Walīd ibn Marwān narrated to us; from Abū ʿImrān al-Jawnī, who said:

“I was with an army in Syria when the commander of the forces seated me together with the judge. The judge then told me—on the authority of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakr—that he said: ‘A believer will come on the Day of Resurrection while his creditor has seized him. The creditor will say, “My debt is owed by this man.” Allah will say, “I am more entitled to settle the matter on behalf of My servant.” Thereupon the creditor is satisfied concerning his claim and pardons this man.’”
