110 – Abū Naṣr al-Tammār narrated to us; Salām ibn Miskīn narrated to us, from Abū Zilāl, from Anas, who said:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“A servant in Hell will call out for a thousand years, ‘O Ḥannān, O Mannān!’—O Most Compassionate, O Most Bountiful. Then Allah will say to Gabriel, ‘Go and bring Me this servant of Mine.’ Gabriel goes and finds the people of the Fire thrown down on their faces; he returns to his Lord and reports. Allah says, ‘Bring Me My servant; he is in such-and-such a place.’ So Gabriel brings him, and the servant is stood before his Lord. Allah asks him, ‘My servant, how did you find your place? How did you find your lodging?’ He replies, ‘My Lord, the worst place and the worst lodging.’ Allah says, ‘Return My servant.’ The man pleads, ‘My Lord, once You took me out of it I never expected You would send me back into it!’ Allah then says, ‘Leave My servant.’”
