108 – al-Rabiʿ ibn Thaʿlab narrated to us; Abu Ismaʿil al-Muʾaddib narrated to us, from ʿAsim al-Aḥwal, from Muwarraq, who said: “A certain man was accustomed to sinful deeds. He once went out into the open country, scooped up some earth, spread it out, then lay down flat on his back upon it and said, ‘My Lord, forgive me my sins.’ Allah said, ‘This servant is aware that he has a Lord who forgives and who punishes,’ so He forgave him.”
