10 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rizmah narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to us, from ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubārak, who said: Yahyā ibn Ayyūb informed us that ʿUbayd Allah ibn Zahr related to him, from Khālid ibn Abī ʿImrān, from Abū ʿAyyāsh, who said: Muʿādh ibn Jabal — may Allah be pleased with him — said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “If you wish, I will tell you the very first words Allah will address to the believers on the Day of Resurrection, and the first words they will answer Him. Allah will say to the believers: ‘Did you long to meet Me?’ They will reply, ‘Yes, our Lord.’ He will ask, ‘Why?’ They will say, ‘We hoped for Your pardon and forgiveness.’ He will then say: ‘My forgiveness has therefore become incumbent for you.’”
