74 – Muhammad ibn ‘Abbad ibn Musa told me, saying: Kathir ibn Hisham narrated to us: Sufyan al-Thawri was seated in Basra when someone said to him, “Here comes Musawir ibn Sawwar,” who was the commander of the police under Muhammad ibn Sulayman. Sufyan immediately sprang up, entered his house, and said, “I hate to look upon someone who is defying Allah when I have no power to stop him.”
