54 – Salamah ibn Shabib told me, from Zuhayr ibn ʿAbbad al-Ruʾāsī, who said: Dawud ibn Hilal told me: It was commonly said, “What secures a servant’s standing before Allah is taqwā (God-fearing piety), followed by a branch of scrupulous restraint.”
