50 – Al-Qāsim ibn Hishām narrated to us; he said: al-Khaṭṭāb ibn ʿUthmān al-Fawzī narrated to us; he said: ʿAbthar ibn al-Qāsim al-Asadī narrated to us; he said: al-ʿAlāʾ ibn Thaʿlabah al-Asadī related to me, from Abū al-Malīḥ, from Wāthilah ibn al-Asqaʿ, who said: “I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, who is the person of waraʿ (scrupulous piety)?’ He replied, ‘The one who halts at what is doubtful.’”
