47 – Muhammad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; al-Asmaʿi narrated to us, saying: one of our pious and learned companions told me that Yunus ibn Ubayd said, “The most astonishing things I have ever heard in this world are three statements: the saying of Ibn Sirin, ‘I have never envied anyone for anything whatsoever’; the saying of Mawriq, ‘I have been supplicating Allah for a certain need for forty years, yet He has not granted it, and I have never despaired of it’; and the saying of Hassan ibn Abi Sinan, ‘Nothing is easier than scrupulous piety: if something gives you misgivings, abandon it.’”
