Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Musa ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us: Salam ibn Abi Muṭīʿ, from Yunus, from al-Hasan, said, “There is nothing on earth I would rather see people devote themselves to than qiyām al-layl—the night vigil.” Abu Iyas then asked, “What about scrupulous piety?” He replied, “Indeed, indeed—that is the very pivot of the matter.”
