Salamah ibn Shabīb narrated to me, saying: Sahl ibn ʿĀṣim narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn al-Sāʾib, who said: One of the pious predecessors (salaf) declared, “Abandoning a single dāniq—a coin of negligible value—of something Allah detests is dearer to me than performing five hundred pilgrimages.”
