Al-Wara'Ibn Abi al-Dunya

224 – al-Hasan ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ related to us; he said: Yaʿqūb ibn Isḥāq al-Ḥaḍramī told me; he said: Ḥājib ibn ʿUmar narrated to me; he said: al-Ḥakam ibn al-Aʿraj said:

A man once arrived with some teak timber of his. Ziyād bargained with him for it, but when the man refused to sell, Ziyād seized it by force and used it to build a canopy in the mosque. Abu Bakrah was never seen praying beneath it until the structure was torn down.
