- It has reached me that a man once asked Wakiʿ about lawful ways of earning, and Wakiʿ restricted them so severely that the man exclaimed, “O Abu Sufyan, from where shall we eat?” He replied, “Eat from the provision Allah bestows, and I hope for Allah’s pardon.”
٢٠٠ - وَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ وَكِيعًا عَنِ الْمَكَاسِبِ فَضَيَّقَهَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا سُفْيَانَ مِنْ أَيْنَ نَأْكُلُ؟ قَالَ: «كُلٌّ مِنْ رِزْقِ اللَّهِ وَأَرْجُو عَفْوَ اللَّهِ»
