187 – Al-Hasan ibn Qazaʿah narrated to us. He said: Muʿtamir ibn Sulayman related to us, from his father, who said: “I visited one of our companions while he was in the throes of death. Noticing how anxious and distraught he was, I started to reassure him and raise his hopes. He said to me, ‘O man! By Allah, even if forgiveness were to come to me from my Lord … the very shame of facing Him would still keep me from presenting myself to Him with what I have done.’”
