Salamah ibn Shabib narrated to me: ‘Ali ibn Bakkar related, from al-Hasan ibn Dinar, from al-Hasan, regarding the Divine words, “He grants wisdom to whom He wills” (Qur’an 2:269); he said, “It is warʿ (scrupulous piety).”
