Al-Wara'Ibn Abi al-Dunya

179 – Khalid ibn Khidash ibn ʿAjlan and Khalaf ibn Hisham al-Bazzar narrated to us; they said: ʿAwn ibn Musa narrated to us, from Muʿawiya ibn Qurra, who said: Abu al-Dardaʾ owned a camel named Damun. Whenever someone borrowed it, he would tell him, “Load it only with what it can manage.” Then, when the time of his death drew near, he said, “O Damun, do not dispute with me before my Lord, for I never made you carry anything beyond your capacity.”
