- Muhammad ibn ʿAbbad ibn Musa narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿUmar al-Aslami informed us; he said: Rabiʿah ibn ʿUthman related, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from his uncle Rabiʿah ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Hudayr, from Abu Saʿid al-Khudri:
He bargained with a man over a sheep and offered him three dirhams. The man swore by Allah that he would never sell it for that amount. He then took the sheep around the market but did not find anyone willing to pay that price. So he returned to Abu Saʿid and said, “Take it.” Abu Saʿid disliked the idea and mentioned the incident to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, “He has traded away his Hereafter for his worldly life.”
