146 – Ahmad ibn ʿImrān narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Idrīs narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Khālid, from Shubayl ibn ʿAwf, who said:
“My feet have never been dust-covered in pursuit of worldly gain, nor have I lifted a foot toward any destination since I learned that I …; and I have never sat in a gathering except while waiting for a funeral, or for a need that simply could not be avoided.”
