145 – al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to me; he said: al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Fazārī narrated to me; he said: I heard Yūsuf ibn Asbāṭ, who said to a man—reported to be Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād al-Shaybānī, “Which road did you take?” He replied, “Through such-and-such a village.” Yūsuf said, “Were you not afraid that Allah might cause the earth to swallow you up, when that village was steeped in transgression?” Muḥammad fell silent and lowered his head.
