143 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿUmar al-Jushamī narrated to us; he said: Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us; he said: ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal narrated to us; he said: Fudayl al-Raqāshī said to me, while I was questioning him:
“O man, do not let the multitude of people distract you from your own soul, for in the end the matter will come back to you alone, not to them. And do not keep saying, ‘I shall go here and there and thus the day slips away from me,’ for everything is being recorded against you. Nothing has ever been seen that is better in pursuit or swifter in catching up than a recent good deed pursuing an old sin.”
