131 – Isḥāq ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us: Jarīr told us, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from Abū Ṣāliḥ al-Ḥanafī, who said:
“I came in to Umm Kulthūm, and she said, ‘Bring food for Abū Ṣāliḥ.’ They served me a bowl of broth with a flank of meat in it. I said, ‘You serve me this while you are the rulers?’ She replied, ‘What would you have said had you seen the Commander of the Believers ʿAlī? Once some citron was brought to him; al-Ḥasan—or al-Ḥusayn—picked up a piece of it for one of their children, but ʿAlī took it from the child’s hand and divided it among the Muslims.’”
