46 – al-Qāsim ibn Hāshim related to me that ʿAbdallāh ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār al-Khabāʾirī al-Himṣī narrated to us, that Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd narrated to us, that ʿAmr ibn Khālid related to me, from Qatādah, from Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The protective boundaries of Islam are four: scrupulous piety—and that is the linchpin of the matter; gratitude in times of ease—and that is the attainment of Paradise; patience in adversity—and that is deliverance from the Fire; and humility—and that is the believer’s honor.”
