Al-Wajal wa-l-Tawaththuq bi-l-'AmalIbn Abi al-Dunya

5 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Majīd narrated to me; he said: I heard Sufyān say: A man said to Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir and to another man of Quraysh, “Be in earnest—be in earnest! Take heed—take heed! If matters turn out as you hope, then what you have already sent ahead will count as an extra credit; but if matters turn out otherwise, you will have no cause to blame yourselves.”
