65 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us, and Muhammad also related to me—from one of his companions—who said: “Al-Fudayl and Sufyan were sitting together. They spoke about various matters; al-Fudayl started to weep while Sufyan did not. Someone questioned him about this, and he replied, ‘When we do not let the tears flow, it presses more heavily on the heart and keeps the sorrow alive within it for longer.’"
