Al-Hamm wa-l-HuznIbn Abi al-Dunya
  1. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us, and I heard someone relate from Rābiʿa: I heard a man exclaim, “wā ḥuznāh” (“Alas, my sorrow!”). She said, “Do not say it like that; instead say, ‘wā qillata ḥuznāh’ (‘Alas, how little is our sorrow!’). For if you were truly grieved, no span of life would avail you.”
