36 – Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Ali ibn Hafs, from Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah, from Yunus, who said: “I have never seen anyone whose sadness lasted longer than al-Hasan. He used to say, ‘We laugh, yet we cannot be sure—perhaps Allah has already examined some of our deeds and declared, “I will accept nothing from you.”’”
