30 – Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to me, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Ibrāhīm, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who said:
An elderly woman from among al-Ḥasan’s neighbors—she was a woman of merit, and al-Ḥasan would spend most of his day with her—entered upon him. Al-Ḥasan began to weep, so she asked, “What is making you cry?” He replied, “Woe to you! Every sorrow fades away except the sorrow caused by sins.” Al-Ḥasan further said, “People sought pleasure but missed it; true pleasure is found only there.”
