159 – Salamah ibn Shabib narrated to us. He said: Sahl ibn ʿĀṣim narrated to us; he said: al-Fuḍayl ibn ʿIyāḍ said: My son ʿAlī said to me, “Ask your Lord to grant me prolonged sorrow, for perhaps I may find deliverance tomorrow through the very length of that sorrow.”
