126 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad informed me, from Dāwūd al-Muḥabbar, from ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Zayd, who said: “More than once I stayed awake the whole night, reflecting on the depth of his sorrow—meaning ʿUtbah. I even spoke to him, urging him to be kinder to himself, and he broke down in tears.” He went on to say, “I weep only over my own shortcomings.”
