117 – ‘Abd Allah narrated to us; Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Madini narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Yazid, from Ja‘far ibn al-Harith al-Nakha‘i, who said:
“Jacob, peace be upon him, grew so old that his eyebrows drooped over his eyes. A man met him and asked, ‘What is this?’ He replied, ‘The length of the years and the abundance of sorrows.’ Thereupon Allah revealed to him, ‘O Jacob, are you complaining about Me?’ He said, ‘My Lord, it is a sin I have committed; so forgive me for it.’”
