116 – ‘Abd Allah narrated to us; Abu Muhammad ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Murajja ibn Wada‘ related to me, from his father, from al-Hasan, who said:

“They censured their deeds in sorrow, and were therefore granted joy and security. They shouldered the hardship of this world and filled their time in it with what would benefit them in the Hereafter. They lined their hearts with awe, became oblivious to their wives and children, and so they were wed to wide-eyed maidens and waited upon by immortal youths in the life to come. They chose humility before Allah in this world, and thus their ranks were raised in His sight. They left the world with empty stomachs, unburdened backs, and unstained skins. They pleased their Creator, and He in turn was well pleased with them.”
