98 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Muhammad narrated to me; Hakim b. Jaʿfar narrated to me. He said: Abu ʿAbd Allah al-Barathi told me:
“The eye will not overflow with tears until the heart has first been set ablaze. Once the heart burns, a flame flares within it; its smoke rises to the head, draws the tears down from their hidden springs to the eye, and there the eye lets them pour forth.”
