95 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; Ishaq ibn Ibrahim informed me; ʿAli ibn Bazīʿ al-Hilali related, from Abu Hamzah al-Hujaymi, who said: ʿAmir ibn ʿAbd Qays declared:

“My God, You created me without first consulting me about my creation. You also created, together with me, an enemy and allowed him to course through me as blood courses. You enabled him to see me while I cannot see him, and then You said to me, ‘Hold fast!’ My Lord, how can I hold fast if You do not hold me fast? My God, in this world there are cares and sorrows, and in the Hereafter there are punishment and reckoning—so where, then, is any rest or rejoicing?”
