85 – ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; he said: al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad related to me; Ḥajjāj reported, from Saʿīd ibn Zarbī, from al-Ḥasan, that on one occasion al-Ḥasan remarked:
“The people of Paradise will say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah who has removed sorrow from us’ (Q 35:34).”
Al-Ḥasan added, “Death cuts short the sorrows of this world, but the sorrows of the Hereafter remain. A believer has every reason to feel concern, for Hell lies before him a journey of three thousand years: one thousand years descending, one thousand years across its plain, and one thousand years ascending.”
