6 – ʿAbd Allāh ibn Rajāʾ related to me: Aḥmad ibn Bashīr narrated from Hishām, from al-Ḥasan, who said, “From the moment Joseph left Jacob—peace be upon them both—until he returned, eighty years passed, and sorrow never abandoned his heart; he wept continuously until he lost his sight.” Al-Ḥasan added, “By Allah, on that day there was no human being on earth more honored in the sight of Allah than Jacob.”
