Al-Nafaqa 'ala al-'IyalIbn Abi al-Dunya

94 – Shujaʿ ibn al-Ashras related to us; Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid related to us, from Abu Sinan, from Abu Muhammad al-ʿAmmi, who traced the report back to the Prophet ﷺ:

He was asked about a man who has one daughter. He replied, “He is weighed down.”

The man then asked, “And a man who has two daughters?” He said, “Like a beast plodding along on a night journey.”

Someone asked, “What of a man who has three daughters?” He answered, “O servants of Allah, rush to your brother’s aid!”
