Al-Nafaqa 'ala al-'IyalIbn Abi al-Dunya

93 – Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; Jarir narrated to us, from Layth, from al-Zuhri, who said:

“Whoever is tried with one daughter and treats her well, she will usher him into Paradise. Whoever is tried with two daughters and, seeking reward, does good by them, they will shield him from the Fire. And whoever is tried with three daughters—the early Muslims used to hold that neither jihad nor almsgiving was obligatory for him.”
