70 – Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Haniʿ narrated to me; Abu Bakr ibn al-Aswad narrated to us; Khalid ibn al-Harith narrated to us; Tarif ibn ʿIsa narrated to us. He said: I asked ʿAtaʾ about the ʿaqiqah (newborn sacrifice). He replied, “One sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl.” He also said, “If no ʿaqiqah was offered on his behalf and, later on, the boy gains the means, he should carry out the ʿaqiqah for himself.”
